The parking enforcement is getting out of control... I know the city needs money but come on... I am a paying customer at the marina. I recently (Yesterday) took my wife and her elderly mother on a boat ride and we needed to take her to the miller park marina because she cannot use the stairs to get down to nay of the other docks. We used a separate car so that she didn't have to stand there by her self (we all know how bad the riff raff is there). After getting her unloaded by the dock we proceeded to park the car in the boat parking. We DID pay the 8 bucks to leave our car in the parking lot (There was 1 other truck with a trailer in the parking lot at the time). When we got back from our nice boating trip with our elderly parent we found a parking ticket in the window that said we are in violation for parking in the trailer parking area. Keep in mind that we did pay the 6 dollars...

I have gotten 3 parking tickets so far and I have only used the marina for 6 months. The 1st one is because I had a new truck that did not have current tags... Mind you it was a NEW truck.

the 2nd was because I was not persistent enough on getting the temporary parking pass the day I got my slip... All the employees were are the boat show and the maintnance guy couldn't get in the building... and the one yesterday was the 3rd.

What can we do about the senseless parking tickets? Yea we can fight them but what a pain.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a sticker in out windows that shows the over zealous parking enforcement cops that we are paying customers? Why do the parking passes for marina members have to expire. If we pay for 6 months of marina dues why not give us a pass that expired the same day and our membership?

We got a good deal on our slip at the show but it seems that the city is going to get the money out of me one way or another.

Marcus... wow 3 tickets I'd be very frustrated for sure.  It seems to me like we could solve this issue.  I like your idea of a marina sticker... or maybe a hanging pass that could be hung off the rear-view window 1 per slip..... or make parking passes available in some way in the captains lounge.  I am sure we could come up with a million more great ideas.  I will be adding this to the April 22 MAC Meeting Agenda.  I think we can get an idea moving from the meeting.  We should have all of the appropriate players in this meeting.  I will start the conversation tomorrow and see if pulling in parking enforcement would be appropriate.

Marcus I have updated the agenda to include this item.  Just to let you know I do not wait for the meeting to get started on your suggestion.  I like to bring things to the meeting to get it on the record and assign further ownership if required.  Thanks again for providing feedback.  It is constructive feedback like this which will help us reduce unnecessary frustration and help inch this marina closer to perfection ClapClapClap

This is a prime example of why each patron should have a Sacramento Marina sticker, or plac-card on/hanging from their vehicle.

I can tell you that Bud is already in the works on this type of ID for patrons.

Parking enforcement has always been a challenge, especially on three day weekends.
The ultimate goal, especially for those that do have trouble climbing down the stairs and ramps, is the RE-opening of the "Guest Dock" on the river at Miller Park.

This "dock" falls under the parks department, but Bud may have some additional information.

I talked to Bud about this item the other day and Don nailed it.  Bud has been working on this in the background for some time.  I think we will start seeing the results of this very soon.  The good news is that the aging G-Dock connector will have to be replaced sooner than later and my understanding is that the new connector will need to be ADA accessible.  We would love for you to join us 4/22 for the MAC meeting to learn more about this.

Where are we with parking issue?  Will the marina issue parking passes to us?  My issue is that I went to pull my boat out of the water last month by myself, and needed to leave my truck and trailer in a parking stall for 10 minutes while I ran to get my boat.  A parking enforcement guy was there, and I checked with him let him know I would be right back- I had even made a sign that said "back in 10 minutes- pulling boat out of marina."  He explained that if I parked my truck and left it there for ANY amount of time, I needed to pay $8 for a parking pass or he would give me a ticket.  That makes no sense.  We already pay the city a lot of money for our slip- and the price just went up.  You would think that we could leave our truck and trailer parked in the city lot while we get our boat without having to pay more.  The only other option for me is to come with a second person so that I don't have to leave the truck, but sometimes that is not possible.
Can we take this up with the city and/or the mayor?  Wouldn't that be a nice selling point, especially for those of us who are not limited to the river and can pull our boats out?

Hi Lorenzo, thanks for letting us know about the issue at the launch ramp.  I agree with you that marina patrons should be able to utilize the ramp for the vessel(s) they keep in the marina without additional cost.  In April MAC meeting we spoke on this topic.  The marina does have rear view mirror tags printed.  The current challenge, as I understand it, is getting all of the parking enforcement agencies to recognize the tag.  A tag that is not recognized by all agencies is not worth much.  This will be a topic of discussion in the next meeting as well.  I would anticipate that additional work will need to be done to ensure the pass will be recognized as there a good number of agencies that enforce parking.  Let me get an update from the marina folks and engage on this item where appropriate.  The ultimate goal is to have a parking pass that is recognized at the miller park launch ramp and throughout the marina property.  I believe this request can be effectively handled at a much lower level than the mayors office.

Please expect an update from me to this topic within the next day or so.

I do want to clear up a couple of potential mis-conceptions.  Slip fees or the fact that slip fees have increased have no connection to parking fees collected throughout the city and at the launch ramp.  The Sacramento Marina is run as an enterprise fund and slip fees are used to pay for the costs associated with the operation of the marina.

I put a note to the entire Mack, about the parking. The people in the marina must put the parking tag, on there mirror. I spoke with a man by the Name of Brain, with the parking enforcement. He told my that all the parking agencies will honor this parking pass. Please let me know I wll get something in writting from Brain.
